1792 - Full Proof
A non-chill filtered “full proof” expression from the Barton 1792 Distillery that takes their typical high rye mash bill and elevates it to the next level.
A polarizing bourbon that drinkers either love or love to hate. This high proof offering from Barton 1792 Distillery takes what you typically expect from the 1792 Small Batch and amps it up. Immediately you are met with a blast of expected bourbon notes on the nose. Tons of vanilla, oak, cherry, and sweet caramel come in right as the high proof starts to tingle your nose. On the palate 1792 Full Proof doesn’t disappoint. It’s obviously a high rye bourbon with kicks of cinnamon coming up first. The more you taste you start to get a good feel for the oak, vanilla, and dark fruit notes. While others have noted that ethanol is overpowering I didn’t find that to be the case. It sips neat just fine and opens up to new flavors with an ice cube or a couple drops of water. If you can find this bourbon locally at retail, it’s definitely worth picking up.
